Purchasing a puppy is an exciting experience, and at Coal Creek Labrador Retrievers, we believe it should also be a thoughtful and well-informed one. Our process is designed to ensure the best possible match between our White Labrador Retriever puppies and the families who welcome them home.
All puppies at Coal Creek Labrador Retrievers are AKC Registered Purebred White Labrador Retrievers, bred with a focus on health, temperament, and responsible placement.
By following a clear, step-by-step approach, we’re able to prioritize the health, temperament, and long-term well-being of every puppy—while helping families feel confident, prepared, and supported from the very beginning.
Our Step-by-Step Puppy Purchase Process
The first step in purchasing a puppy from Coal Creek Labs is completing our puppy application. This application helps us learn more about you, your lifestyle, and what you’re hoping for in a Labrador Retriever.
Our goal is not to judge, but to ensure that each puppy is placed in a home where they will thrive for years to come.
Step 2 — Application Review & Approval
Once your application is submitted, we carefully review each submission. Approved applicants will be contacted directly and invited to move forward in the process.
Because our puppies are family-raised and placed intentionally, approval ensures that we can maintain the high standards we hold for our breeding program.
After approval, a $500 deposit is required to secure your place on our puppy waitlist. Deposits are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and demonstrate your commitment to both our program and this breed.
If a particular litter does not produce the puppy you’re looking for, your deposit may be rolled into a future litter (up to three passes).
Step 4 — Puppy Selection
When a litter becomes available, approved families on the waitlist will be contacted in order. At that time, you’ll have the opportunity to select your puppy based on availability.
We take great care to support families during this step and are always happy to answer questions as you prepare to welcome your new companion.
Our puppies are ready to go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age. Full payment, including any additional services, is due 7 days prior to pickup or transportation.
We offer local pickup in Montrose, Colorado, as well as transportation options for families traveling from out of state.

Placing our puppies in loving, prepared homes is one of the most important parts of what we do. Labrador Retrievers are loyal, intelligent, and deeply connected to their families—but they also require time, care, and long-term commitment.
We look for families who understand that bringing home a puppy is not just a moment, but a responsibility that lasts 10 years or more.
